A Look at Some Cool Gadgets in 2022

What is the one thing that unifies IT pros around the world? No, it is not a love of pizza and beer. It’s a love of GADGETS. And so, we thought it would be fun to look at some cool gadgets in 2022 that you may want to add to your life — or at least put on your wish list (and maybe if you’re a really good this year Santa Cloud will get it for you at Christmas!).

Mac Studio

Mac Studio is touted as an entirely new Mac desktop. For the inaugural launch, there are two editions: one powered by the M1 Max chipset (24-core GPU upgradable to 32-core; 32GB memory upgradable to 64GB), and the other powered by the newly-unveiled M1 Ultra (48-core GPU upgradable to 64-core; 64GB memory upgradable to 128GB). Other key features that have Mac-lovers buzzing with excitement include:

  • A 19.7cm/7.7in square footprint and a height of 9.5cm/3.7in, which Apple says is designed specifically to fit under most displays.
  • A centrally-positioned power socket in the back accompanied by four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10GB Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a 3.5mm pro audio jack (suitable for high impedance headphones or external amplified speakers), WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and two front-mounted USB-C ports (USB 3.0 for MI Max or Thunderbolt 4 for M1 Ultra).
  • A groundbreaking thermal system that enables extremely fast speeds, but stays whisper quiet.

Here’s what they’re saying about the Mac Studio desktops over at “Performance overall is excellent, the display is beautiful, and the extra ports are useful.”

LARQ Bottle PureVis Self-Cleaning Water Bottle and Water Purification System

If you do not drink enough water during the day to stay properly hydrated, you’re not alone. Research suggests that a staggering 75% of people are chronically dehydrated. And so, the obvious question is: Why don’t you drink more water? Perhaps your answer is that constantly buying bottled water is ecologically damaging, inconvenient, and the costs can add up. Well, that’s why you need the LARQ Bottle PureVis!

This is the world’s first self-cleaning water bottle and water purification system. It uses an internal UV-C light to eliminate up to 99.8% of bio-contaminants, such as E. coli, from the water and the inside of the bottle — and cleaning only takes 20 seconds. What’s more, the double-wall vacuum insulation keeps water cold for 24 hours and hot for 12 hours. And what if you forget to press the cleaning button on the PureVis, or leave it at home or at the office? Don’t worry! It turns on automatically every two hours. How cool is that?

Here is what they’re saying about the LARQ Bottle PureVis over at Luxe.Digital: “The LARQ Bottle is undeniably a beautiful object to behold…This pioneering bottle not only makes tap water clean to drink but there’s none of that musty odour you typically get from ordinary water bottles.”

Dyson-Zone Air Purifying Headphones

The last couple of years have reminded us that the quality and cleanliness of the air we breathe is extremely important — and in some cases crucial. But even when we don’t have to worry about coronavirus (and its variants), we still need to guard against smog, smoke, allergens, and other airborne pollutants. And that’s where the Dyson-Zone Air Purifying Headphones enter the story.

Yes, you read that right: Dyson, the company behind those ultra-powerful vacuum cleaners and those awesome hand dryers in public washrooms (don’t you wish you had one of those at home?), is on the verge of offering next-generation noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones that are also the world’s first air-purifying cans.

The device uses electrostatic filters to eliminate 99% of particulates as small as 0.1 microns, while activated carbon filters help absorb air pollution. At the same time, the headphones’ high-fidelity audio sound with advanced active and passive noise canceling turns off noise pollution — which is an increasing problem for many people in urban environments.

The Dyson Zone is not yet available. However, it has been in development for several years, and Dyson says that it will hit the market in the fall of 2022.

Here is what they’re saying about Dyson Zone over at “The headphones weren’t unreasonably heavy with well-distributed weight, while the flow of air is comfortable – it’s not like a breeze blowing across your face and the visor doesn’t actually touch your face, so you don’t really know it’s there. Each earcup has a replaceable filter… As a pair of Bluetooth headphones, we found the audio was reasonably beefy.”

Some people like collecting stuff, and then putting that stuff far, far away from prying eyes — like in a vault or safe. But others like to share and showcase their rare possessions. If you’re among them and you’re into NFTs, then you’re going to want Tokenframe.

As you might have already guessed by the name, a Tokenframe is a wooden frame for displaying NFTs. Currently, it is available in birch, white, mahogany, or black. Sizes range from 10” to 55”, and resolution is available in 2K or 4K. Each Tokenframe is lined with built-in stereo speakers and comes with headphone jacks. There is also an app to control the background color and artwork size, regardless of the aspect ratio.

Here is what they’re saying at “Whether you want to use the 10-inch option for your table, or even if you want your NFT to be the main focal point of your living area, Tokenframe delivers a quality product that works great in any setting, no matter the size.”

Opal C1 Professional Webcam

What happens when former execs from Apple, Beats and Uber get together and decide to re-invent the webcam? You get the incredibly cool Opal C1. Here are some of the highlights of this glorious gadget:

  • The fastest lens ever on a webcam
  • An ƒ1.8, six-element, glass lens that brings in 2.4x more light than any other webcam
  • A 7.8mm 4K Sony sensor that delivers more than 5x the resolution of a regular webcam
  • Multiple beamforming microphones and intelligent noise cancellation
  • An app for fine-grain tuning images, and which offers access to Machine Learning-powered features
  • A recyclable anodized finish with precisely-machined aluminum specifically designed for Opal

Here is what they’re saying about the Opal C1 over at “Opal…delivers on the goal of being a convincing stand-in for a DSLR. It’s far simpler to set up, use, and manage than [a] large camera or even a smartphone converted to work as a webcam. There are no batteries, space constraints, multiple cables, and dongles, or driver woes to worry about.”
