June Poll Question: Job Automation & Desired Automations?

This month, Devolutions wants to know: what parts of your jobs are automated, and what would you like to automate?

Hello! My name is Laurence Cadieux, and I’m a Communication Coordinnator here at Devolutions. My role includes overseeing the content strategy and development of our blog, managing the content and communication for our VIP advocate platform “Devolutions Force,” and working closely with our PR partners around the world. I also handle our off-site content opportunities (magazines, journals, newspapers, etc.). Academically, I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing. When I’m not working, I sing in a band, and I enjoy watching my favorite movies again and again. I also love cooking, and during the pandemic, I became a bread expert — I can now bake the most amazing key lime pie on earth (if I do say so myself!). Plus, I recently discovered LEGO and there is no turning back — I’m hooked! I’m always happy to help, and you can reach me directly at lcadieux@devolutions.net.

Much of the AI and automation discussion these days is ominous rather than inspiring — as we explored in last month’s poll question (see the results here).

This month we want to stay with the automation theme, but look at things in a more positive light. We would like to know: What parts of your jobs are automated, and what would you like to automate?

For example, you may be glad — or actually, you may be UTTERLY THRILLED BEYOND WORDS — to use various tools in your environment along with scripting software like PowerShell to automate tasks such as (but not limited to):

  • Patching
  • Password resets
  • User lifecycle tasks (creation, updates, deprovisioning)
  • Group management
  • AD cleanup
  • Data deletion (e.g., TRIM verification)
  • Client deployments
  • License assignments/revoking
  • Backups
  • New device testing

Also, please tell us about the repetitive tasks in your environment that you would like to automate, which would give you more time and energy to focus on higher-value priorities. Your “automation wish list” could include tasks that you plan on automating soon, as well as those that you hope to automate one day in the future.

You Could Win

Simply by participating in this month’s poll, you’ll be entered to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards. We’ll announce the lucky winners when we look at the results in early July.

Thank you in advance for participating. We look forward to reading your interesting responses!
