February Poll Results: What in the Devolutions 2024 Roadmap Excites You the Most?

Last month, we revealed our CEO’s ambitious 2024 Roadmap, and we wanted our community’s feedback! In our February poll, we asked the community to tell us what milestones on our roadmap excite them the most. Here’s what was shared with us.

Laurence Cadieux

Hello! My name is Laurence Cadieux, and I’m a Communication Coordinnator here at Devolutions. My role includes overseeing the content strategy and development of our blog, managing the content and communication for our VIP advocate platform “Devolutions Force,” and working closely with our PR partners around the world. I also handle our off-site content opportunities (magazines, journals, newspapers, etc.). Academically, I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing. When I’m not working, I sing in a band, and I enjoy watching my favorite movies again and again. I also love cooking, and during the pandemic, I became a bread expert — I can now bake the most amazing key lime pie on earth (if I do say so myself!). Plus, I recently discovered LEGO and there is no turning back — I’m hooked! I’m always happy to help, and you can reach me directly at lcadieux@devolutions.net.

In January, our CEO, David, published the Devolutions 2024 Roadmap. This is our look at some of the major additions and improvements that we have planned across our product roster this year.

In the short time since the roadmap was released, we have heard from many happy users who are eagerly looking forward to the updates and upgrades on the horizon — including some from the year’s first major release (2024.1) for Remote Desktop Manager, Devolutions Hub, and Devolutions Server.

We received so much positive feedback that we made it the basis for our February poll question, which asked: What in the Devolutions 2024 Roadmap excites you the most? Let’s take a look at the responses, starting with the CLEAR winner.

New Script Dashboard 4TW!

A whopping 66% of community members who participated in the poll are most excited about the new script dashboard in Remote Desktop Manager — and for many good reasons!

This new feature allows you to:

  • Centralize scripts, so they are always quick and easy to find.
  • Simplify script execution, which is especially helpful with PAM operations.
  • Run scripts that do not have a direct link with an entry (creating users in AD).

We will take a deeper dive into the new script dashboard after the RDM 2024.1 release. Stay tuned!

Automatic password rotation

Several community members are also excited about the new automatic password rotation on session close in Devolutions Server.

A few years ago, the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) changed its guidance regarding password rotation, because studies revealed that many end users were reusing passwords across accounts. The current best practice is rotating end user passwords in the event of security threat, or once every year.

However, this does not apply to privileged accounts! Many credible security experts and organizations strongly recommend rotating privileged passwords after each use. Recall that 74% of all data breaches start with privileged credential abuse.

This new feature in Devolutions Server will automate this critical task. It will be available later in the year, and we will provide additional details in the months ahead.

Other responses

Community members are also looking forward to these additions and improvements:

  • New option to organize vaults by business unit, such as MSP clients, divisions, sites, partners, etc. This feature is integrated across all products!
  • New integrated X Windows support in Remote Desktop Manager, which supports remoting to Linux and desktops.
  • New Safari (macOS) browser extension support for Devolutions Workspace.

It’s ALL good!

A few of you also said that you’re excited about ANY and EVERY improvement — especially in Remote Desktop Manager. We appreciate your words of encouragement, and are just as excited as you about making things better!

The winners are…

Now, let’s reveal the two randomly-selected poll participants who have each won a $25 Amazon gift card. Congratulations Patrick Damen and Benjamin Crill. Please email me at lcadieux@devolutions.net to claim your prize.

Looking ahead

Thank you to everyone who participated in the February poll. Your input and advice ensure that when it comes to continuous improvement, we are focusing on the most important areas, and heading in the right direction. As Thomas Edison said: “There’s a way to do it better — find it!”
