February Poll: What Technologies Do You Expect Will Significantly Change Your Day-to-Day Work Experience in 5 Years?

Last month, we asked you to hit the reverse button and share some technologies that have significantly changed your life over the last 15 years. We received some very interesting responses (which is not surprising because our community is full of very interesting people!). You can find the recap here.

Now, we would like you to switch gears — instead of looking back 15 years, we would like you to look ahead and tell us: What technologies do you expect will significantly change your day-to-day work experience in 5 years?

Now, some of you may think that 5 years is a rather short timeframe. This is a valid point. However, the rate of change has become so astonishingly fast that 5 years is a quite a “long time” in technology-terms.

Consider that by 2025 (so not even 5 years from now!) there will be an estimated 1.35 million tech startups worldwide. In fact, the rate of change is so rapid that some folks are saying that “Moore’s Law” — which says the speed and capability of computers can be expected to double every two years — is too slow to keep up with what is really going on.

So, please share what technologies — communication, manufacturing, transportation, etc. — you think will have a major impact on how (and possibly when, where, and with whom) you work in 5 years.

As usual, there are NO LIMITS to what you can share. If you can imagine it, then we want to know about it!
