Hello! My name is Laurence Cadieux, and I’m a Communication Coordinnator here at Devolutions. My role includes overseeing the content strategy and development of our blog, managing the content and communication for our VIP advocate platform “Devolutions Force,” and working closely with our PR partners around the world. I also handle our off-site content opportunities (magazines, journals, newspapers, etc.). Academically, I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing. When I’m not working, I sing in a band, and I enjoy watching my favorite movies again and again. I also love cooking, and during the pandemic, I became a bread expert — I can now bake the most amazing key lime pie on earth (if I do say so myself!). Plus, I recently discovered LEGO and there is no turning back — I’m hooked! I’m always happy to help, and you can reach me directly at lcadieux@devolutions.net.

[IN THE NEWS] Our VP of Sales and Marketing Max Trottier Lists 5 Core Security Solutions SMBs Should Implement in VMblog.com Article

To mark Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which happens each year in October, a new feature article by Max Trottier, our VP of Sales and Marketing, has been published by VMblog.com.

In the feature article, Max highlights five core security solutions that SMBs should implement now — and not later, when it may have gotten too late to avoid a costly and potentially catastrophic cyberattack. According to Max:

While all organizations are under attack, small and mid-size businesses are especially in the line of fire. Cyberattacks against SMBs have skyrocketed during the pandemic, driven by a surge in phishing and ransomware. What's more, according to IBM's Cost of a Data Breach Report, the average cost of a cyberattack has climbed to USD$4.24 million per incident — which is the highest in the 17-year history of the report. Indeed, for many SMBs this enormous price tag is not just staggering, but it is fatal. Sixty percent of SMBs go out of business within six months of a cyberattack.”

The five core security solutions that Max urges SMBs to adopt include:

  1. Secure Remote Access Management
  2. Secure Digital Vault
  3. Secure Password Management
  4. Multifactor Authentication
  5. Automation

Max also shares some practical advice to help SysAdmins and other IT pros get buy-in and the necessary budget from upper management regarding cybersecurity.

The full feature article, in which Max dives deeper into each core solution listed above, is available at: https://vmblog.com/archive/2021/10/15/five-core-security-solutions-all-smbs-should-implement-now-not-later.aspx. No sign-up is required.
