May 25th is Geek Pride Day, and this year we’re celebrating the festivities with quizzes, special offers, new Sysadminotaur comics (start the series of comic strips here), and articles like this one, which highlights the 5 most epic geek arguments of all time. Here they are:
Star Wars vs. Star Trek
This is the ultimate geek argument! Each side can make a strong case. For example, Star Wars has cool characters (no, we’re not counting Jar Jar Binks), and Star Trek has some great stories and memorable lines (“Beam me up, Scotty”). Personally, I prefer Star Wars, but I’m sure there are many geeks out there who think I need to be re-educated. Most people here at Devolutions are fans of both sagas, which is why we’ve created quizzes to test yourStar Wars and Star Trek knowledge.
Call of Duty vs. Battlefield
Ah yes, then there’s the legendary duel between two game franchises: Call of Duty vs. Battlefield.** One claims to be more fun, while the other claims to be more realistic and interesting.** I’m a fan of both, although I’m not very good at Battlefield. Who knows? Maybe gamers from both camps will unite and fight back against Fortnite and Players Unknown Battleground.
PC vs. Console
While Xbox vs. PlayStation is a passionate argument, the battle pitting PC vs. console is even more intense. True, PCs are more powerful and there are plenty of mods to play around with (although there are a growing number of mods available for consoles these days, too). My view? The real test here isn’t which platform is superior, but which players are better. Do you agree?
Apple vs. Android
This argument extends beyond the geek community – it is a global debate. I think it all depends on what kind of user (and geek) you are. Android offers more freedom, while Apple offers a simple and intuitive interface on multiple devices. Not long ago, we had a poll that looked at Windows vs. Mac. Maybe we should do one about Apple vs. Android! What do you think?
DC vs. Marvel
Comics are a big part of geek culture, and it’s fun to speculate on who would win a battle between, say, Captain Marvel and Supergirl, or Galactus and Darkseid. I think the comic book world is a much better place when it’s populated with The Joker, The Flash, Doctor Doom, Wolverine and other amazing characters from both DC and Marvel.
Your Turn
As a geek, surely you have some very strong opinions on all of these arguments. Well, what are you waiting for? Before your boss tells you to work overtime or a user calls because they lost their password (again),** make your opinion known by commenting below**. The geek world awaits your enlightened viewpoint!
