Hello everyone,
In last month’s poll question, we asked whether you prefer a SaaS licensing model, or a perpetual licensing model in your work, and in your organization.
We were blown away by the quality of responses to this question. Honestly, reading such thoughtful answers from IT pros isn’t just informative, but it’s inspiring! We’d like to thank everyone who participated both here and over at Spiceworks.
The Results
As you might expect, there was a mixed bag of answers and opinions, with some people pro-SaaS, others pro-perpetual license. However, most people said that their preference depends on key factors, including:
1. The type of software
2. Organizational requirements
3. Pricing (both convenience and TCO)
4. Options
Some of you also noted that, sometimes, the decision isn’t in the hands of IT pros, but in those of CFOs and accountants who want the software on the books as a smaller operating expense (SaaS), or a larger depreciating asset (perpetual licensing).
Check Out the Answers
We invite you to read all of the responses, which as noted above, are thoughtful, insightful and intelligent (what else could we expect from our amazing community?). You’ll find responses on our blog here, as well as on our Spiceworks page here.
