To say that 2020 was merely “unusual” is like saying the Grand Canyon is a “little hole in the ground,” or that the Himalayas are “some pretty tall hills.” In so many ways, 2020 was unlike anything we have ever experienced — and will never forget.

However, judging from the responses to our January poll question, it looks like many of the IT pros in our community found ways to make 2020 positive and productive. Here are some of the key things that you focused on:

  • Adapting to new systems and processes
  • Completing major projects and migrations
  • Clearing technical debt
  • Upgrading your technical skills
  • Accelerating integrations

It was also very inspiring to see that some of you achieved personal goals, such as Thomas Higgins, who was hired full-time by the company he was contracted to + got a raise; Ben Liebowitz, who got married and bought a house; Arjan Anthonisse, who also bought a house; and !BRNDMG, who bought a new 4K projector for gaming and movies. WAY TO GO GUYS!!

We also know that some of you faced struggles in 2020, and we are sorry to hear that. But we know that you are some of the best and brightest, and we hope that 2021 is much more positive for you.

Speaking of positive: here are some of the projects you’ve told us are already in the works or on the horizon for 2021:

  • Migrating 2 instances of RDM into 1 instance
  • Introducing new backup solutions
  • Deep diving into AWS
  • Projects involving DevOps, cloud computing, and cybersecurity

We wish you all the best in achieving your goals in 2021. If there is any way that Devolutions can support you, then simply let us know. We would love to help make this your best year ever!
