My name is David Hervieux, and I’m the CEO and founder of Devolutions. First off, I’d like to wish you and yours a very Happy New Year!
2014 was a great year here at Devolutions, and most of the credit belongs to 2 groups: our amazing community of IT pros around the world, and our talented (and growing!) team that never stops innovating.
As we look ahead, I also wanted to share our roadmap for 2015, which is an overview of some of the exciting things we’re working on. Please keep in mind that this isn’t a comprehensive list, but more of a “sneak peek” at some of the highlights:
Remote Desktop Manager for Windows 10.5
Our team has been working very hard on Remote Desktop Manager for Windows 10.5, and all signs point to a launch in the second quarter of 2015. This update will feature several improvements and multiple enhancements, including some big ones like:
-
New enterprise grade **group policy** engine, which simplifies and improves the security management
-
Improved **Azure Console**
-
**Improved Hyper-V console**, with the goal to create the best replacement for Hyper-V Manager
-
**Remote registry browser** and manager
-
**Native PDF viewer**
In 2014, we started building a cross-platform VNC engine via designing our own VNC library. Our goal is to ultimately achieve full implementation of Apple Remote Desktop with the Apple Adaptive Codec support. We’re on track to release this soon for Windows, Mac and Android.
Remote Desktop Manager for Mac
Many of our IT pros use both Remote Desktop Manager for Widows and Remote Desktop Manager for Mac, and they know as well as we do that the Mac version isn’t quite at the same level as the Windows version. In 2015 this will change with the release of Remote Desktop Manager for Mac 2.0!
This will be a major release, and will include many new features that were previously available to Windows users only, including:
-
**Intel AMT** support
-
**LogMeIn** connection type
-
**SecureCRT** application integration
-
**Bonjour browsing and import**
-
**Secret Server** password integration
-
Offline mode, data source cache, and finally the private vault
And be assured that we’ll be adding Apple Remote Desktop with all missing codecs.
Remote Desktop Manager for Android
As you may be aware, our team has been working on Remote Desktop Manager for Android for several months. Well, in 2015 all of that hard work will finally pay off as we’ll be releasing Remote Desktop Manager for Android!
From your smartphone or tablet, you’ll be able to quickly and easily view, edit, add or manage your connections and your credentials. We’re also working hard to include as many session types as possible (initially RDP and VNC will be supported).
Remote Desktop Manage for iOS
If you’re an iOS fan, then don’t worry: we haven’t forgotten about you at all. We’re already working on Remote Desktop Manager for iOS, and will release it after the official Android launch.
Devolutions Online Drive
The Devolutions Online Drive is a targeted replacement or alternative to our DropBox data source, and allow you to sync your connection list across all your devices including Windows, Android and Mac OSX. This is one of our more recent projects, and once finished it integrate with Remote Desktop Manager Online. And best of all, the service will be free!
Remote Desktop Manager Online (Devolutions Cloud)
In the second quarter of 2015, we’ll be launching a major user interface redesign of the Remote Desktop Manager Online (Devolutions Cloud) platform. Our goal is to link all our services in one unified website, including: forum, billing history, and eventually a help desk. It will also centralize all of your Devolutions management, including:
- Online Data source
- Online Backup
- Online Drive
- Custom Installer service
And for later in 2015, we plan on adding some enhanced features such as sharing session configurations and **inviting people **to use a connection for limited time. We expect that this will be a game changer for both current and new Remote Desktop Manager Online users!
Devolutions Server 3.0
We’ve earmarked 2015 as the year we’ll be introducing the new Remote Desktop Manager Server, or as we’re re-naming it: Devolutions Server. The name change is designed to eliminate any confusion.
Devolutions Server 3.0 will available as a separate module, and will no longer include client licenses. That way, our users can integrate the solution with Remote Desktop Manager, and only purchase the exact number of client licenses they need.
Some of the key features you can look forward to in Devolutions 3.0 include:
**- **2 factor authentication with Radius server integration and RSA SecurID support
-
Remote Windows Management like (Hyper-V, Services, Events, Active Directory, etc.), including a new web console
-
Office 365 authentication
- Multi-domain authentication
- Email notifications
- A brand new user interface
