The 2025.2 major release brings a range of updates, including a new Linux client, autofill for desktop applications, and expanded feature support for DVLS and the Hub—such as the ability to open web-based sessions.
Specific permission support for VPN/SSH/Gateway entry section
You can now set specific permissions for the VPN/SSH/Gateway, and session recording sections within an entry when using DVLS. This makes it easier to share accounts with some editable properties—without potentially allowing users to break connections.
Ability to message a user group
You can now create in-app messages for DVLS user groups, as well as message groups within the “Report an issue” feature to report broken functionality. Support for messaging user groups expands functionality by enabling secure, direct communication within DVLS.
New Workspace Linux desktop client
The Workspace now offers a Linux desktop client! Looking nearly identical to our other desktop clients, the Linux version provides similar functionality for users who rely on Linux as their daily driver. This rounds out our client support alongside RDM's Linux version.
Although it's just the beginning, the current minimum supported OS is Ubuntu 24.04. The client will eventually be listed in the Ubuntu Software Center. In the meantime, you'll need to download the .deb
file and install it via the Ubuntu Software Center application, the command line, or by double-clicking!
dpkg -i package.deb
Be warned that the following dependencies are required:
-
libglib2.0-dev
-
libkeybinder-3.0-0
-
libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0
-
libsqlite3-dev
-
libcurl4t64
-
libayatana-appindicator3-1
-
libjpeg-turbo8
Open web-based sessions for Hub and DVLS
You can now open web-based sessions proxied through Devolutions Gateway directly from within Workspace. Instead of switching to RDM or Launcher, you can stay within the Workspace. This is ideal for quickly fixing issues or restarting services, while more complex operations remain better suited to RDM or Launcher.
Note that session recording is not currently supported in this context, as local and remote recording have not yet been implemented.
DVLS notifications synced in Workspace
To ensure everyone stays on the same page, DVLS notifications are now synced with Workspace. Critical notifications, pending approvals, and informational messages are now visible directly within the Workspace—no need to open the DVLS web interface.
New Group Policy settings to manage deployed instances of Workspace
Like Remote Desktop Manager (RDM), Workspace now offers settings that can be configured via GPO (Group Policy Object) in an Active Directory domain. In the installed Workspace directory, locate the Policies\Workspace.admx
and Policies\Workspace.adml
files and place them in your domain controller’s C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions
and C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\en-US
folders, respectively.
