For many people, competition for their least favorite day of the week is no contest: it’s Monday all the way. But do you know what 60s folk-rock group The Mamas and the Papas had to say about this? “Monday, Monday, so good to me. Monday mornin', it was all I hoped it would be.”

And around here, Mondays are indeed very good — because that’s when we have the opportunity to introduce you to a great new team member! And so, please give a warm welcome to Gabriel Dubois, Software Developer.

I recently had the chance to chat with Gabriel to learn more about his experience and goals. Here is a look at our conversation:

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

Ever since I was young, I’ve been very passionate about computers. During high school, I earned my diploma of vocational studies in computer support at CFP des Riverains, which is a bit north of Montreal. After that, I earned my diploma of college studies in programming at Collège de Rosemont, which is in Montreal.

What would you say is your biggest achievement?

I am very proud to have joined the Devolutions team! Many people dream of working for this wonderful company, and the fact that I managed to get a job here is a big accomplishment.

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

When I was studying programming, I started looking at jobs related to computer science. I had heard some great things about Devolutions, and so I visited the website and looked around. I was so impressed that I visited in person and brought along my resume. The moment I entered the building, I fell in love!

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

I am always open and passionate about learning new things, which I believe is a very important strength in the workplace — and especially in the IT field, because things are always changing. In addition, I am a good teammate and am committed to helping build a positive atmosphere and environment. Third, I would say that I am a perfectionist, and I refuse to compromise on quality. I approach my work from the end user’s perspective.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools you use?

As a member of the RDM Linux team, my primary tasks involve finding bugs and adding features. I use JetBrains Rider to program, Slack to communicate with my team, and Jira to organize my work.

What is your impression of working here?

When I get up in the morning, I’m happy — never sad — about going to work. Everyone who works at Devolutions seems positive, and this enthusiasm spreads. All of the teams help each other, and everyone gets along very well. This is by far the best working environment that I’ve experienced in my life!

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

My main goal is to learn as much as possible about programming and computer science, so that I can contribute even more to the development of the company and our products.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

This is not surprising at all for a programmer, but I love playing video games. In addition, I traveled a lot when I was young, and I plan to do it again in the future since I like to see new things.

Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:

I am proud to be here and will keep working hard to make your lives easier and more efficient!
