Last month, we looked at what stresses you out the most about your job. If you haven’t had the chance to check out the responses, then click here for a list of pain points + tips on how to deal with them.

This month, we’re going to the other end of the emotional spectrum by asking: What do you love the most about your job?

It could be anything that you find inspiring, uplifting, and satisfying – and that makes you feel good about your contribution.

Now, it’s important to point out that this doesn’t mean you need to entirely love your job. In fact, data from Gallup revealed that just 13% of people around the world actually like going to work, while the remaining 77% are somewhere between mildly disengaged and extremely unhappy.

So, what we’re saying is that your job may be very stressful, and you may not always get the support you need and the recognition you deserve. However, despite these injustices, we’re asking you to dig deep and identify the one thing that makes you (and perhaps others) feel wonderful.

Plus, if you have a story to share about what you love most about your job, please enlighten the community.

For example, if the best thing about your job is when end users are grateful for your help, perhaps there was a situation where a particularly appreciative end user gave you a hand-written thank you note — or maybe they just started crying with relief because you unfroze their computer or got rid of malware.

Or if the best thing about your job is supporting others, maybe there was a time when you went above and beyond to help a struggling team member solve a difficult technical problem — or deal with a terrible customer or boss — and instead of quitting or getting fired, they ultimately developed into an elite and amazing IT pro (like you!).

We look forward to your responses, especially since the holiday season is approaching and this is a great way to get us all in a good mood ??

You Could Win

Simply by participating in this month’s poll, you’ll be automatically entered to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards. Just think of the gloriously geeky things you could buy, like a math wall clock (“Let’s meet in Conference Room B at the square root of 4”), or your very own Star Trek Captain’s Log (“Once again my yogurt in the staff room has been eaten by enemies of the Federation”).

Thank you in advance for participating, and we look forward to hearing what motivates and inspires you at work!
