Happy Monday everyone!

Today, I’m pleased to introduce you to Jean-Francois Theroux, our new DevOps Specialist. Jean-Francois is definitely a man of action – he’s already working hard on our remote access tool Wayk Now! He’s focused on fixing bugs, boosting security and adding new features. I recently had the chance to chat with Jean-Francois and to learn more about his experience and personality. Here’s a snapshot of our conversation:

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

I’ve been working in IT for nearly 20 years. I started doing tech support, and then moved on to be a system administrator. And now I’m a DevOps specialist. I’ve managed web infrastructures for most of my career.

What would you say is your biggest achievement?

Constantly adapting to a fast-changing industry. Cybersecurity and IT in general are always changing. Staying on top of the wave is easier said than done.

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

I had a really good first impression during my interview. I liked Dave’s vision of work-life balance. Plus, it’s really close to home. No more traffic!

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

I’m a quick learner and love to learn new things. I have a good sense of humor and always try to have fun with my coworkers. I also try to give 100% to everything that I do.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools you use?

My main task is to migrate our internal build system in the Wayk Now team to an open source tool called Conan. I’m also looking at rebuilding our build farm with automation.

What is your impression of working here?

Lots of smart people working hard – and having fun along the way. It’s a very laid-back environment, too.

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

I want to keep learning about new technologies. By learning, I can become more efficient and more essential to my team. I like when my colleagues can depend and rely on me. At this time, learning more about the programming language Rust is at the top of my list.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

Like most IT pros, I enjoy spending time gaming. I also enjoy cars, investing, and learning about digital privacy. I think we have a part to play in securing our identity online. That’s why I want to adopt a secure digital presence online.

Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:

I’m more than happy to work on Wayk Now. I think this product has a bright future, and I’m honored to be working on it. If you have a request, I would suggest posting on our forum. We are always listening, and we might make your feature request a reality.
