Another Monday has arrived, which means it’s time to shine the spotlight on a great new team member. Please say hello to our new QA Specialist, Jafran Majeau! Jafran will fit right in at Devolutions because he’s a big-time gamer. From Company of Heroes to Smash Bros, he’ll never run out of people here who want to take him on.
Recently, I had a chat with Jafran to learn more about his experience and his role here at Devolutions. Here’s a look at our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
I've worked in various fields, including food services, hospitality, and retail. But no matter where I worked, on top of my regular duties, I always ended up being the unofficial IT specialist! And so I started focusing on the IT area, working mainly on my own. However, as soon as I met the team here, I knew that I’d found the kind of work experience I wanted.
So far in your career, what has been your biggest achievement?
I’m proud that I completed several of the CDI comprehensive courses in less than a day, even though the estimated time for each one is 90 hours. On a professional level, every company that I’ve worked for has relied on me as a problem solver and analyst, and I’ve made some major contributions. For example, I developed a program to alert project managers inside a factory when one of the forklifts malfunctioned.
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
I've been communicating with a few of the employees here for over a year, and I’ve heard incredibly good things about the company. When I visited the office, I was very impressed by the quality of the workspace, the interaction with management, and the overall transparency.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
First, I’d say that I’m competitive, in the sense that I’m always trying to do better and help my team improve. Second, I’m great at problem solving and analyzing issues. And last but not least, I adapt very quickly to changing plans and the addition of new tasks and responsibilities.
What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?
As part of the Quality Assurance team, my job is to ensure that every aspect of our products is completely safe, functional, and optimized. I spend a lot of time tracking down bugs. I use various tools, including virtual machines, to simulate many different scenarios and use cases.
What is your impression of working here?
It's amazing! Everybody here is willing to help each other at a moment’s notice. We all work as a well-coordinated unit, and it always feels like everyone is giving his or her best — because we all depend on each other to succeed. I’m also very impressed by the resources we have at our disposal, and the environment is productive, comfortable and healthy. On top of this, the management and leadership team is very focused on making sure everyone is involved and accepted, which is appreciated by new people like me. Devolutions is an excellent workplace!
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
Over time, my goal is to not only make an important contribution to our team, but also to give back to the company for giving me such a great opportunity to grow and evolve as a professional. I plan on doing my best to help in any way I can.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I've spent more hours playing video games in my life than I've spent sleeping! While I do enjoy other activities, ultimately my keyboard or game controller always summons me back to my chair.
