Another Monday has arrived, which means it’s time for another glorious installment of everyone’s favorite (or at least my favourite!) blog post series: the new employee spotlight!
Today, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Johann Dufaud, a smart and talented new addition to our Android Development Team. Like many of our wonderful new hires, Johann was part of our very successful internship program, and we’re delighted that he agreed to join us.
I recently had an interesting conversation with Johann about life, the universe and everything — including his time in France, and how he ended up here in Lavaltrie. So, grab yourself a nice big Monday morning coffee and enjoy a look at our chat:
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been interested in IT. When I lived in France, I worked for a computer company, and earned my bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the UQTR. I also worked in Shawinigan, Quebec as a computer teacher for a semester.
What would you say is your biggest achievement so far?
During my internship here at Devolutions, I performed several tasks, including adapting a Windows session to our Android application. It was a big challenge, and I was able to rely on my experience to achieve it. I’m very proud of that accomplishment!
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
Devolutions is an excellent company that has its own unique style — it doesn’t try to fit into a template. Our CEO David is the big reason for this, he’s made some great choices that focused on supporting employees and giving them the resources and environment they need to succeed. Everyone here is happy, motivated, hard working and supportive, whether they have been here for many years or just started. All of these factors made me want to work at Devolutions.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
First, I’d say that I’m very persistent. Even if a problem is difficult, I don’t stop trying to find the best solution possible. Second, I work efficiently and quickly, but without compromising on quality or results. And third, I’d say that I’m self-motivated and hard working.
What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?
Currently I’m working on the Android Development Team, where we adapt the interfaces and operations of Remote Desktop Manager for Android. We mainly use Visual Studio with Xamarin.
What are your impressions about working here?
It’s such a great company. The level of transparency and equality is unbelievable. And there is a really good mix of working hard and having fun.
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
I’d like to help Devolutions continue its steady growth and evolution, while continuing to improve my app development skills.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I’m very interested in computers, and also spend a lot of time getting healthy at the gym. I also enjoy playing the piano and cooking.
Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:
Everyone here supports and admires IT pros, and understands that they are the workplace heroes who keep everyone connected and everything safe. I am glad to be back here at Devolutions, and look forward to helping all of you succeed!
