Now that over 300,000 IT pros around the world use Remote Desktop Manager, you can understand why we’re always happy when we can add some amazing new talent to our group. Today, I’m delighted to introduce the newest member of our Wayk Now Software Development team, Ala-eddine Kamate!
I recently had a chance to sit down with Ala-eddine and learn about his background and role. Here’s a snapshot of our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
Prior to joining Devolutions, I had a few part time jobs while finishing my studies. The one that had the biggest impact on me was in the security field. I learned a lot about the value of good procedures and protocols, and the importance of being organized at all times.
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
I met Devolutions’ CEO David Hervieux at my university’s career fair. I was really impressed with David and his philosophy, and had a strong sense that Devolutions would be a great place for me to work. Then when Marc-André contacted me and offered me a chance to work on Wayk Now, which was still in development at the time, I knew it was an incredible opportunity. Once I visited Devolutions and met some of the people here, I knew it was the right place for me.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
I would say that I don’t hesitate to ask questions and I make sure that I ask good ones. I’m also a sociable person, and I like talking to people and not just sitting at my desk without interacting every now and then. Socializing with coworkers is always great and makes the working environment more enjoyable. Finally, I would say that I have a strong analytical aptitude when it comes to solving problems, which in the software development field is a must.
What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools that you use?
In a word: programming! Lately, I’ve been working on UI elements for Wayk Now using the C programming language, the Win32 API, and another API implemented by Marc-André to make generating UI elements easier.
What are your impressions about working here?
It’s really an amazing place! The people are great, the tasks are challenging and the environment is enjoyable. Anyone can talk to anyone, and everybody is friendly and willing to answer your questions. All the nervousness that I felt when I first started disappeared quickly and completely thanks to the openness and support.
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
I’d like to make a valuable and meaningful contribution, and positively impact my team by being productive, supportive and fun to work with.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I love playing soccer and running, two things that I don’t do as much as I would like to, unfortunately. I have a passion for technology overall, and I’m always interested in learning about what’s coming out next. And let’s not forget gaming! I game occasionally, but I must be careful to make sure that I don’t spend hours and hours on my computer!
Please share a few words with our community of IT pros:
I haven’t been here for a long time, but I can tell you that the energy and effort that the people here put into their work is really incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it. To the IT pros out there, I’d say: you’re in good hands and we’ve got you covered!
