Making sure that we effectively communicate with our customers, resellers and strategic partners around the world is a top priority here at Devolutions. And that’s why I’m delighted to introduce you to the newest member of our translations team, Stephanie Gagnon!
I recently had the chance to chat with Stephanie to learn more about her background and role. Below is a snapshot of our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your professional background?
While studying translation at the University of MontreaI, I worked as an administrative assistant for a software development company. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I launched my own freelance business and offered my translation, editing and technical writing services to various clients.
What would you say is your biggest professional achievement so far?
Prior to joining Devolutions full-time, I contributed on a freelance basis. During that time, I wrote the first version of the Wayk Now user manual. I would say that was my biggest professional achievement so far.
What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?
Devolutions is an exciting, fast-growing business that I wanted to be a part of. My primary skills are in translation, but I also have a bit of a background in IT, which made it a perfect match. In addition, I heard from people who already work here that Devolutions is a friendly and challenging work environment, and they are right.
What would you say are your top three strengths at work?
I am a well-organized, detail-oriented person who is eager to learn about technologies and languages.
What tasks do you carry out in your job? And what are some of the tools you use?
SDL Trados Studio 2017 is my most important tool for translating manuals, documents, our website, and software UI strings. Part of my translation process includes maintaining translation memories and glossaries, which helps increase productivity over time. I use one other tool, Help and Manual, to edit Devolutions’ Online Help. Even though I don’t code software, I also use Visual Studio to find where the translations are used in the code, so that I can understand the context.
What are your impressions of working here?
I enjoy working at Devolutions because the people are friendly, helpful and hard working. Everyone here has made me feel welcome, and part of the family.
What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?
I would like to continuously improve and increase the amount of French material available at Devolutions.
On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I like playing with my puppy, Q-Tips, who’s a Coton de Tulear. Other than that, I am a huge hockey fan, and have a strong interest in reading and video games.
