Please join me in welcoming Etienne Lord, our newest Support Specialist (who, by the way, is also pretty good at foosball so he’ll fit right in!).

I recently had the chance to chat with Etienne to learn more about his experience, skills and role. Here’s a snapshot of our conversation:
Can you tell me a bit about your professional background?

I have experience working in an IT school, where I solved various hardware and software related issues, and also providing training. While I developed a lot of technical skills and knowledge, what I found especially valuable was working with different people and understanding their issues.

What would you say is your biggest professional achievement so far in your career?

Honestly, I would have to say that joining Devolutions is what I’m most proud of so far. I know that there’s a lot of competition to work here!

What was it about Devolutions that made you want to work here?

It’s such a unique work environment. Even though everyone here is highly skilled and there are many technical experts, the communication is incredible. It is a very supportive culture, and quite social as well, which is important to me.

What would you say are your top three strengths at work?

First, I’d say that I’m a fast learner. I love learning new things, and when I’m passionate about something it’s even better! Second, I’d say that I perform well under stress, which is useful in a fast-paced IT support environment. Third, I’d say that I’m patient and willing to put in the time necessary to learn something deeply.

What tasks do you carry out in your job, and what are some of the tools you use?

For now, my primary focus is on providing the best support possible to our users. I’m constantly scanning our forum and help sections to increase my knowledge and understanding.

What are your impressions of working here?

As I mentioned, I love the environment here. I can’t believe how well people work together. Everyone is friendly, helpful, approachable, and works very hard to make our users happy.

What goals would you like to achieve at Devolutions?

I’d like to learn as much as possible — which is good, because there’s so much to learn! I also want to expand my understanding of all of our products, and not just Remote Desktop Manager, so that I can help all of our great users.

On a personal note, what are some of your hobbies and interests?

I love learning about new technologies — the progress and innovation is unbelievable! I also spend time reading up on world news, politics, environmental culture, society and history. And like a lot of IT people, I’m a huge gamer.
