Today, the fine folks who live here in Quebec -- which is a province in Canada for those of you who aren’t familiar with this lovely part of the world -- are enjoying St-Jean-Baptiste Day! Every year, thousands of people gather in parks and enjoy festivals to celebrate our beautiful province, and its history and culture. And yes, the occasional beer is enjoyed. But hey, it’s a celebration, right?
The arrival of St-Jean-Baptiste Day also inspired us to wonder if there were any geek-centric festivals that members of our community might enjoy. Well, we did a little digging, and found that some really cool ones – namely Geekfest (Canada), Geek Picnic Festival (Russia), and AnimeJapan (Japan) – have already passed for this year. But we found some that are still on the horizon. So without further delay, here are 7 festivals to geek-up your summer:
1- Japan Expo, France : July, 2-5 2015
Can’t go to Japan this summer? Then enjoy the next best thing by heading to Paris and checking out the Japan Expo! It’s THE place to be if you’re a fan of Japanese culture, including aspects that geeks tend to really love, like manga and martial arts. It’s a must-end event that will rock your summer. I can picture it now: Klingons playing poker with Ferengi, Romulans playing craps with Betazoids, and of course: a whole bunch of Captain Kirk look-a-likes having a hard core throw-down against Captain Picard look-a-likes to see who gets the most hot space action. Good times! Learn more at http://www.creationent.com/cal/st_lasvegas.html
