Guess what? The Devolutions team is growing again! Today, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to our new Senior Software Developer Denis Vincent.  We love welcoming new colleagues and getting to know them during our weekly Wednesday lunches (generously provided by our CEO David!).

To help you get to know Denis a bit better, here’s an interview that I did with him. My questions are in bold, followed by Denis’ answers.

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

I started developing in the 90s, back when computers were speeding along at a whopping 8MHz. Back then, 1 megabyte of memory was HUUUUUGE. I had the opportunity to work on various systems in different fields, including multimedia and machine control.

How did you meet our CEO David?

Martin Lasalle, who is one of Devolutions’ Senior Software Developers, introduced me to David a few weeks ago. We hit it off right away.

What are your first impressions of working at Devolutions?

It’s the perfect work environment! The team is cool and very friendly!

What does your job involve? What tools do you use?

My work focuses on developing connection algorithms. I work almost entirely with VisualStudio, and occasionally with XCode as well. I also use software like WireShark and MessageAnalyser, which are useful for monitoring traffic on the network.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love kayaking and camping, as they help keep me connected with nature. I’m also passionate by electronic music. In fact, I’m putting together an album so that I can share my passion with people! I’ve also been a vegan for more than 10 years, and it’s a lifestyle that I really enjoy.

What invention do you wish you had created?

Digital audio! I can’t believe how the technology has rapidly evolved over the years. It replaced analog audio technology during the 1970s in most areas of sound production, sound engineering and telecommunications. I would also like to have created software synthesizers, which are very cool!
