We’re growing yet again! Today, I’d like to introduce you to Louis-Philippe Bonenfant, our new Windows developer! I know he’s going to fit in perfectly around here, because in addition to being smart, he’s also friendly and sociable -- just wait until he sees what kind of parties we throw around here!
Recently, I had a chat with Louis-Philippe. My questions are in bold, followed by Louis-Philippe’s answers.
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
I come from a small town in Lanaudière, Quebec, where I spent two years studying humanities after high school. I quickly realized that I didn’t want to pursue a career in humanities and that’s when I decided I wanted to learn how to code. I’ve always been fascinated by computers, but I really didn’t know anything about them. And so I figured the best way to learn would be to enrol in a computer science program, and that’s what I did!
How did you meet our CEO David?
Devolutions offered internships to students in our class, and I applied. I met David for the first time in my interview.
What were your first impressions of working at Devolutions?
I’m really impressed by the way people get work done, but still manage to have a lot of fun. The environment here is awesome, and communication is easy because of the layout of the work stations. Everyone is always more than happy to help out when anyone encounters problems.
What does your job involve? What tools do you use?
I spend most of my time adding features and fixing bugs for the Windows version of Remote Desktop Manager. I write code in c# (.NET framework) and use Visual Studio as an IDE.
What are some of your hobbies?
I like binge watching TV series on Netflix, reading IT related articles to keep up with new technologies, cross-country skiing, and playing video games.
What invention do you wish you had created?
The transistor of course! Everything we do today is possible because of this invention, and I have a lot of respect for the electrical engineers and physicists who made it possible to create such a device.
Would you like to say something to our community?
I’m glad to have the opportunity to start my professional IT career here at Devolutions. Everything is done here in a very professional manner, and everyone really cares about the community and serving their needs!
