If you’re a regular visitor to our blog (and if not…where have you been?!), you know that we regularly feature interviews with members of the amazing Devolutions team. Lately, we’ve been introducing you to our newer team members – which is a big job, because we’ve been growing so fast!

Today however, I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to a wonderful colleague of mine Melissa Gagnon, who has been with us since 2011. Melissa is our Office Manager and the unofficial “Devolutions Mom” – because she makes sure we’re all OK! My questions to Melissa are in bold, followed by her answers:

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

I completed my college degree in administration in the Cegep of L’Assomption, which is located quite close to Devolutions’ current headquarters in Lavaltrie, Quebec. After that, I completed by Bachelor’s degree in Montreal. While studying, I did an internship and loved it! That employer hired me after I graduated, and I worked there for almost 10 years. That’s when a friend of mine told me about a great company in Lavaltrie that was looking for someone like me. That company turned out to be Devolutions, and I’ve been here ever since!

When you first joined Devolutions, did you anticipate that the company would grow so much?

Yes, I was confident that the company would grow. David is a real visionary and a kind, inspiring leader. But honestly, I didn’t expect it to grow so FAST!

In your opinion, what drives Devolutions' continued growth?

I think it all comes down to the team here, and how smart they are. Everyone has their strengths and it continues to help the company rapidly grow and advance. We also really get along, and the chemistry is amazing! I also feel that David’s vision for Devolutions, both as a company and as a culture, has really helped us develop professionally and even personally.

What are some of the biggest changes you've seen or experienced since joining Devolutions?

I was the fourth employee here at Devolutions, and now we are 26! And so the biggest changes I’ve experienced has been the massive team growth. There have been a lot of renovations and moving as well, to accommodate our growing team.  But at the same time, it has been a lot of fun!

What changes do you think might unfold in the future?

I expect that we’ll continue adding greater team members, and we’ll probably be either moving or adding more space in the future, too.

What does your job involve? What tools do you use?

I am the Paperwork Queen! I handle the accounting, pay checks, insurance, and so on. I also manage our CRM software, and am the first point of contact for our global network of resellers.

What are some of your hobbies?

I start fitness training two years ago, and I love it! Running really helps clear my mind, too.

What invention do you wish you had created?

I wish I invented the phone. It’s the most useful communication tool, and it would feel amazing to be the brains behind such a profound invention.

Would you like to say something to our community?

I would like to say that even though I don’t hail from a truly geeky background (my background is more on the business side than the technical side), I LOVE interacting with our community of IT pros, and to helping them benefit from all that we have to offer. Thank you all for helping us grow, we wouldn’t be here without you! And personally speaking, I learn something new every day – you could say that I’m an honorary geek!
