Can you tell me a bit about your background?
Ever since I was a kid I’ve been into computers. I started programming in high school, and then developed my knowledge further by studying computer science, which covered general IT concepts and had an emphasis on programming.
How did you meet our CEO David?
I had heard great things about David from my college buddy Olivier, who had interviewed for a job here at Devolutions. Oliver told me what a great company it was, and how the people were amazing. That really made me want to join the team, and so I applied. I first met David during my interview, and the rest is history!
What are your first impressions of working at Devolutions?
One of the first things I noticed was how much support Devolutions gives to its new employees. Being a “fresh rookie” I was nervous at first, but everyone has been so helpful and supportive. Plus if I need help understanding anything, I can always ask any of my new colleagues, including André, our great Software Developer and Add-on Managerwho works beside me.
I also noticed that, while everyone here works very hard, they also have a lot of fun and the mood is always dynamic. Everyone jokes around and it really makes it a great place to be. It makes you look forward to coming back to work the next day!
What does your job involve? What tools do you use?
I am currently part of the Windows development team, and am working on a Windows 8.1 Dell laptop. We mostly use C# as our programming language. We also use Xamarin Studio, but I prefer Visual Studio 2013, complete with ReSharper, USysWare DPack and StyleCop. It helps me increase productivity, and makes it easier for me to adhere to the company’s high programming standards.
What are some of your hobbies?
I’ve always had a passion for music, and I took music all through high school. I tried many instruments over a pretty short period of time, though I never really took it further than just as a hobby.
As you might expect, I also love video games and have played them since I was a kid. In fact, video games are one of the reasons why I’ve always been interested in computers, and I still play them today when I get the chance.
What invention do you wish you had created?
I wish I had created the C programming language, which has helped so many people. It was actually created by Dennis Ritchie -- with the help of his colleague Ken Thompson -- who contributed massively to the world of technology, even though he isn’t well-known compared to some other people like Steve Jobs. However, personally, I’m not interested in fame or recognition. I like working behind the scenes to help others, and working in software lets me accomplish that goal.
Would you like to say something to our community?
The environment here at Devolutions is really good, and it’s one of the best places I’ve ever worked. It feels great working on such amazing products, and I’m happy and grateful to be part of Devolutions community!
