Hello everyone,

Now that our solutions are used by more than 200,000 IT pros in over 100 countries, it’s no surprise that we’re expanding our team and bringing in some amazing new talent. And so today, I’m excited to introduce you to our talented new programmer Jonathan Lafontaine!

To help you get to know Jonathan a bit better, I interviewed him a few days ago. My questions are in bold, followed by Jonathan’s answers

What kind of IT background do you have?

In 2003, I started working at a company called CIS Group as C + + programmer and worked on the iPhone’s ancestor, otherwise known as the handheld computers. In 2011, I left that job to get new experiences and worked at AgileDSS as Java programmer, working on a tool and Business Process Automation.

How did you and David our CEO meet?

Actually, before starting here, I’d never met David! My brother in law who is also in the IT industry -- knew David. And in fact, David had offered him a job, which he declined because he wasn't looking for a job at that time. However, he passed along my name for the position. Well, a few months went by, and I thought that the opportunity had passed. But then David contacted me, and the rest is history!

So far, what is your impression of Devolutions?

Devolutions is a dynamic, open, challenging company, and it’s really enjoyable to work here. I’m honored to be part of this amazing team.

What does your job involve? What tools do you use?

As you know, we’re currently testing Remote Desktop Manager for Mac. My job is to program this version in C #. I’m also using XamarinStudio, which is our development tool for Remote Desktop Manager for Mac. The beta is going very well, and I’m really enjoying my work on this version. It’s challenging but very exciting at the same time!

What are some of your hobbies?

I love music! And though I don’t consider myself a musician, I love playing drums. I play some AC/DC, Muse…it relaxes me. I also love movies, and my favorite is Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger. As soon as there is action, I love it!

What invention would you have liked to create?jo

I would have liked to invent Jarvis (Just A Rather Very Intelligent System), the highly advanced computerized A.I. developed by Tony Stark in Iron Man, to manage almost everything, especially matters related to technology, in Tony's life. I’m working on it ;-)

Would you like to say something to our community?

No matter how impressed you might be, hang on – the best is yet to come, and things are going to be AWESOME!

Thanks Jonathan for your time! We’re proud to have you on our team, and I’m sure you’re right: the best is yet to come!
